Author: Dealernews

A team assembled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission plans to examine all existing ATV safety standards in a move that could result in new rules for four-wheelers.

Comprised of 10 CPSC staffers, the ATV Safety Review Team will focus on young rider safety, as well as look at beefing up pre-sale training requirements, enhancing warning labels and improving communication about safety rules between dealers and their customers.

The team will also consider separate standards for riding two-up, estabslihing guidelines for handing out child injury data at the time of sale and an addition of an ATV model suitable for 14-year-olds.

The CPSC says the team includes a diverse and knowledgable group of scientists, engineers and other experts.
